Client testimonial
''I have been having one-to-one Yoga Therapy with Claire for a while, to help with both mobility and emotional difficulties. She has used her extensive knowledge and empathy to work in consultation with me and my physical and general well-being have improved immensely. I am achieving more than I could have imagined and I cannot recommend Claire more highly.''  J. Skibbereen

What is yoga therapy?

Picture
Yoga therapy is a practical, empowering, and healing approach to move closer to balance in body, heart and mind. A yoga therapist is a guide and support on this path. It is a personalised approach to yoga during which the therapist is guided by who you are and your presenting condition to create an easy to manage home practice and offer ongoing support to navigate whatever it is you wish to work with.

My approach is somatic, trauma-informed, accessible and inclusive.
I work with the person and symptoms that present to me, and what is needed in that moment, rather than taking a prescriptive or standardised approach.
I offer space for safety, understanding, reflection and transformation and can work with a wide range of conditions (physical, mental and emotional.)

Yoga therapy is a doorway to well-being, healing, new life-skills, self-awareness and transformation.

Yoga therapy can be combined with movement, art therapy or reflective writing if a client wishes to explore a multidisciplinary approach.

What happens in a session?

  1. During a session you have time to reflect on a your health, lifestyle, thoughts, feelings and behavioural habits.
  2. I use assessment tools, such as postural and movement evaluation, alongside yoga models, lifestyle enquiry, and an extensive health questionnaire.
  3. From this, we co-create practical and realistic goals for you to work towards, and experience an educated, compassionate and empowered response to whatever is you wish to work with.
  4. I teach you a short home practice sequence, and the clients is given transcripts and recordings so that they can continue to use these techniques at home.
  5. Follow up sessions are used to map progress, check client's goals, adjust or  change the client's home practice so that thy can move towards their goals.

This is not a quick-fix or prescriptive approach, but the results can be life-long and transformative.
I recommend a minimum of 4-6 sessions. Some clients find a small number of sessions are enough, others like to work with me for much longer to have long-term support for their lifestyle, inner work and transformation
.

My approach
I have many tools in my toolkit which I use to support every person individually, drawn from over 30 years of practicing and training in yoga, movement, creativity and body-based work. If a client wishes, we can work with a hybrid approach, including movement, art therapy, bodywork and self enquiry through open hearted listening during our sessions.

I maintain a high level of professional practice through attending retreats and CPD trainings, and have had a commitment to my own personal practice since 1994.
I am an accredited member of the YTA (Yoga Therapy Association)
