Nature-based practice

Amerta movement, creative practice
and art therapy in nature

I hold regular classes or workshops based in the landscape, in my home garden and in the wilds of West Cork.

Private one-to-one or group sessions can be arranged for individuals who wish to explore this work with me.

Embodied Nature
8 week course of outdoor movement and creativity in the landscape of west Cork

During the course we will explore our relationship with our bodies and the land. Remembering ourselves to be part of the natural world.
We'll use movement and creativity to develop a more embodied relationship with the natural world, to waken our senses, to connect intimately with life, to know on a deep soul level that we are a member of the community of all beings: that the rocks, rivers and tress, two-legged, many-legged, finned and winged ones are all our family. We are not separate.

Time commitment
We will work together on each site for 2 hours.
I will give you weekly tasks to complete in your own time at home e.g. photo project, writing, movement tasks.

Sites:
We will work in different settings each week, to experience what different places have to share with us, how are we moved, changed and affected by them? Some sites are human created, some are more untouched.
  • Scrahanaleary garden
  • Dunmanus stone circle
  • Lough Hyne holy well
  • A local forestry plantation
  • Roaring Water Bay's rocky shoreline and beaches
  • Mount Corrin's bogs and rocks
  • Sandunes and estuary at Barley Cove.
  • Horse Island

Practicalities:
  • We will lift share as much as possible so we can travel mindfully and have as little impact as possible.
  • We follow the code of leave only footprints, take only memories
  • Since places that we visit will require walking to get to, and will be on uneven ground, you will need to be physically able for that.
  • The time we spend at each site is 2 hours. You will need to factor in travel time on top of that.
  • You'll need to wear the appropriate clothing, footwear to stay warm and dry within the fluctuating Irish weather. Check the forecast before you leave home!
  • Bring snacks, drink and a flask of something warm on chilly days.

Cost
200 euros for the course, payable up front.

Next course begins May 2026
