About Claire

The natural world and my own place within it are an important part of who I am and how I work. Based in the wilds of South West Ireland, I am a wife, mother, artist and gardener. I love to hang out with my dog and wander the wild lanes, coastline and hills of beautiful West Cork.
Alongside my teaching and therapy work I ran community gardening projects for several years and have always grown a garden wherever I lived.

I have trained in the fields of Bodywork, Embodied Movement, Yoga and Creativity since 1997, and facilitated groups for over 30 years, firstly in community art, followed by yoga and Amerta movement.

My yoga practice draws on traditional schools of Hatha and Tantra yoga, alongside extensive studies with contemporary pioneers in the field of yoga and yoga therapy. (more about this on the yoga page).
I've been a fully accredited Yoga therapist since 2012, working for 7 years as a supervisor for yoga therapy trainees at Yoga Campus in London, and for 5 years as a trainer and advisor for the Yoga Mandala Project's trauma informed training course and sharing yoga with refugees through their programmes in Jordan and Greece. I was recognised as a yoga elder by the IYN (Independant Yoga Network) and am a member of the YTA (yoga therapy association)

My movement work is based primarily on 23 years of study of Amerta movement with it's creator Suprapto Suryadarmo, as well as being based on studies in community dance and many other movement disciplines
(more about Amerta and Suprapto on the Amerta page).

With a Masters in Art Therapy I am registered with IACAT (Irish association of Creative Arts Therapists) and have experience working with CAMHS, in a primary school, family resource centre and in REHAB care.

I maintain my professional standards by being registered with, and adhering to the codes of conduct of governing bodies, as well as continuing to learn and reflect on my practice through CPD trainings, ongoing personal therapy and professional supervision.

I believe in offering people
the opportunity to move towards a more empowered and engaged life, through embodiment, self enquiry, expression, movement and stillness.
I share practical tools and experiences to empower people to meet life's challenges with equanimity and wisdom.
I offer
the invitation to connect more deeply and soulfully with your true nature, other people and the natural world.
